William H. Patton

William H. Patton hailed from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where he was born in 1808. He moved to Mexican Texas in 1832, and joined in movements for Texas independence from Mexico early on. He served several roles in the rebel army during the Texas Revolution, including fighting at the Battle of San Jacinto. He then was in charge of Santa Anna's custody, until President Sam Houston tapped him to be among those escorting Santa Anna to Washington.
